Sariah's Problem

We finally decided to take away the binky from the little slug bug and life really, really, really SUCKS for all those within a 5 foot radius of the child. She screams and yells and cries for the "bink" and won't take a nap anymore. I think I'm about to go insane. She cries all day long and all she wants is her "bink". James isn't the most quiet at 5:30 in the morning when he wakes up and since she's found her way into our bed each night, she wakes up with him and starts asking. I don't know how much more I can take. James keeps telling me it's worth it but I'm beginning to wonder if it really is. Afterall...he's NOT the one home with her all day while she's a monster and the only time I get a little peace and quiet is when I lock my self in the bathroom. I hope it ends soon and she realizes that they aren't coming back because I'm at my limit. I miss her beautiful little smiling face!

Aw man! Not the BINKY! lol
Sorry you have to deal with the wailing and gnashing of teeth! James is probably right though... it'll be worth it later on.
But for now, I would invest in some quality ear plugs! :)

I am so sorry! I am so glad we never had to do that...at least it's not a thumb:)
(I know that doesn't help but I am trying to think positive for you:)

I hear you!! Lilia is in love with her bottle and I'm having a hard time getting her to give it up. It's funny. As adults we have all sorts of 'comforts'. Movies, ice cream, popcorn, you name it! It is different for everyone. Why should our little ones be made to give up one thing that helps them comfort themselves? I have a friend who took her daughter go to the post office and mailed their binky's sway.

You're all right! It is a comfort to her and that's why I didn't want to take it away because I definitely have mine that I like and James would probably cut off her thumb if that's what she liked. Some ear plugs would be a good investment for the time being because it will all work out in the long run! Thanks for the encouragement...you guys are great!

It's a hard decision, as we are the ones to deal with the effects of taking it away. If you keep waiting and put it off, there attachment can get stronger, so I think it is good to start at one point. Be careful that something else doesn't replace it, as with Cicily the soft sippy cups seemed to replace the binky and then we had to deal with getting her off of those around bedtime. Be consistant with it, as if you give in, it will be harder in the long run. I don't remember how old she is, but age is a factor in deciding when to take them off.

Wow. That sounds like fun. Just pray she doesn't start sucking her thumb. I sucked by thumb until I was 8 YEARS OLD!! It wasn't pretty. My family was fasting for me to quit. LOL!
