9/11

I didn't realize, at first, that yesterday was 9/11 until I was driving to the lab to get some blood work done. I heard this thing on the radio that caught my attention. It was a little embarrassing when I realized that I had tears streaming down my face sitting and waiting for the light to turn green. I began thinking about just how grateful I am to be here today. I am so happy to live in this great nation no matter how "imperfect" it may be...we are truly, truly blessed. I am thankful for all the brave men and women who put their lives on the line day in and day out to protect this great nation and all the wonderful freedoms that we have. I am proud to be an American and I am proud of my husband for his willingness to serve his country. I am also truly thankful to my Heavenly Father for all the things that I am blessed with. I could probably go on for a very long time with all my blessings, but my family is one of the greatest blessings that I have received from my Father in Heaven and I couldn't have asked for a better one. I love my Savior and am so grateful for his atoning sacrifice and the knowledge that I can one day return to live with Him. It's always sad to lose a loved one, but I couldn't be happier to know that I can see them again. If you get a chance go to bigdandbubba.com and look at the Silent Night 9/11 tribute. It's what I listened to in the car and I think it is worth the 5 minutes of time. I love you all!!!

I have mixed emotions about 9/11. How do we honor those who died without giving attention to the nut jobs that commited the crime. I do agree we need to continue to be diligent in protecting ourselves militarily. It doesn't seem possible so many years have gone by.

Great post. It's amazing how clearly we can all remember that day. I can remember exactly what I was doing when I heard about it and how it made me feel. It's hard to believe Akayla was only 6 years old. She wrote about it in her journal that day. It doesn't seem that long ago, and yet families are still being torn apart to fight this horrible war! Thanks James for being willing to protect our country!

I agree. I think they should make 9/11 a national holiday to remember the people who lost their lives on that day and the troops who are always working to protect our freedom!

I love the patriotism from that day. I always think about it because Amanda's birthday is the day before and so many other tragedies happen on her birthday as well. I like Carissa, wish it was a national holiday, we should spend the day with our families, being patriotic.
