Why we love them

Yesterday was Tanks birthday and he got an action figure of Iron Man from Gma Hoopes. He was in the dining room flying it around when Beka ran in and got whacked in the head with it. She started to cry a little and I decided that she and Tank needed to take care of it. I sent her over to give Tank a hug so he could apologize for accidentally hitting her. She barreled into him almost knocking him over and the two of them hugged fiercely for a moment. When they let go Teancum leaned down a little to be on her level and told her how sorry he was for hitting her and that he would never try to hurt her like that on purpose. He spoke with so much love and compassion towards her I had to stop myself from getting emotional. It didn't help my resolve when I could see in her eyes the love and admiration she has for her big brother. The two of them smiled and went along their merry little way enjoying life. I am so thankful that my children really do love each other and it's so nice to see that they know it too. There's always something each day to remind us why we're here and that life really is great. Thanks Tank and Beka for being my reminder.

It is always nice when the hug after an accident doesn't turn into a brawl! You never know if it is going to help the situation or give them another try to hurt each other. It is also nice when kids are old enough to understand apologies and forgiveness.

Wow! Tank is getting so old! I remember eating at your apartment at Ricks College when he was just a newborn. Time sure flies. He's still cute as ever!
